Party Like It's 2012

Ironically, Justin and I were watching the Back To The Future movies this weekend.  Seeing as how the movies were made in the 80's it was fun to watch the "special effects" that was used to indicate time travel.  Things definitely aren't like they used to be!

Well today for the weekly Monday Listicles we bring to you 10 Clues You're Living in 2012.

1.  Every home has at least 2 flat screen TVs in them.

2.  People don't have a land line telephone, and use their cell phones as their primary phones.

3.  You can go months without actually speaking to someone but still email, text and Facebook them.

4.  There is no more Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, or Dick Clark.

5.  Kids as young as age 6 or 7 have their own cell phones.

6.  I'm willing to bet that MOST people do not print every digital picture they take and don't actually put pictures in photo albums anymore.  I know I don't.

7.  Most of what you see on television are reality shows...stupid reality shows.

8.  Newspapers hardly exist.  People use the internet to learn of current events.  A tornado hits and we check Twitter!

9.  A whole family can be famous and have their own reality show just from being rich.  (The Kardashians)

10.  You can be on unemployment for over 2 years.

  1. So true! And, I bet that any cassette or VHS tapes that you own for sentimental reasons are buried in a box somewhere in the basement, since you can't play them ANYMORE! My kids will never know what those things are. Wait, maybe you don't know, either? Gah!! =) Tee hee.

    1. Ha. Ha.Ha. ;) I know them all very well. In fact I was JUST thinking about a specific cassette tape that I have myself recorded singing on. I would love to have that saved to my computer, but have NO WAY to play the darn cassette! :( And I still have many home videos on VHS and original recordings of Fraggle Rock ;)

    2. You know I'm teasing you! :) But this reminds me, I need to get my wedding video transferred to a digital recording. Pretty soon I won't be able to watch it, since either the tape will be bad or my dinosaur VHS player will eat up the film! But I gotta find it first... Sigh.

    3. Ooh... Yeah, that's definitely something for the 'to do' list! Hope you find it! :).

  2. We still have a couple of the first "flat screen" TV's (Sony Wega's). They weighed a ton and required 2 men to carry them into the house. Eeep.

Reality shows drive me crazy although I do like the Amazing Race. That doesn't really count though does it???

    1. I know what TV you're talking about! My cousin had one of those. Humongous and heavy thing! :) And I actually do like *some* reality shows, but even the ones I like, I think are stupid :) ...if that makes sense.

  3. Just read @dkotucker's comment and she is so right about the Wegas! When we went to get rid of them, it was such a CHORE! I remember there being warnings that It took 3 people to move them.

Your list was great! I know Twitter and Facebook are the first things I check when I need a local update. The news is useless. Ellen

    1. I do remember those TVs! I never had the 'privilege' of having one though. hah!
The news IS useless and usually so one sided. Why not get the news "from the people" ;) Thanks for the comment!
