Good Morning and Happy Labor Day Monday! Hope you enjoyed your weekend, or perhaps are still enjoying your weekend!
I'm SUPER excited to have been chosen to pick the new Monday Listicles topic for next week! (Thanks, Stasha!) Every year when September comes around, for at least the first week, I always get a certain favorite song stuck in my head. It reminds me of the day I met my husband (September 1, 2006) and the beginning of fall. :)
You may have heard of it... "September" by Earth, Wind and Fire. (If you haven't heard of it, here it is!)
For next week, I'd like to invite you to make a list of 10 Songs. Favorites? One's that make you want to scream? Dance? Tell us why. A funny lyric? A fond memory? Remind you of a movie? So catchy but you just can't get it out of your head? An ex? I can't wait to hear what your songs are! :)
Until then...
This week's Monday Listicles topic was chosen again by Stasha, herself. List of 10 - The School Edition. Although my daughter is not yet an age where she can attend school and I am not a teacher, the mad "Back To School" rush still affects me.
10 Ways "Back to School" Affects My Life
1) Since I currently live on the same street and about 100 yards from one of the two Middle Schools in my local area, there is NO escaping the school bus traffic in the morning or afternoon.
2) School ends at the beginning of June here. By the 4th of July, companies are already advertising "Back To School" sales.
3) Speaking of Back to School sales, they can really be helpful for new clothes and household items...even though I'm not away at college. Now is a good time to get that new toaster!
4) Watching the kids walk by my house on the way to and from school, I have the pleasure of seeing what's "in style" now a days. Let's just say I hope that by the time my daughter is in middle school, I hope Muu-muus are the new fad!
5) Lucky for me, Pinterest has given me plenty of ideas for when my daughter (and future children) do attend school. I have some pretty cool organization ideas and healthy ideas for lunches.
6) This time of year means another year has passed and I don't yet have a college degree. This in a way depresses me, but I can assure you this will change!
7) This new school year is the first year I'm a mom and I can totally predict how my emotions will be when Annaliese has her first day of school. I'm stocking up on tissues already!
8) I love seeing my friends blog, tweet or post on Facebook of their adorable kids' outfits on their first day of school in a new grade! It's definitely something I look forward to every year...probably until I need to take my own pictures.
9) This school year, the graduating class of high school (or college) will be 2013. My first born will be in the high school graduating class of 2029-2030. That doesn't even seem fathomable! Flying cars by then?
10) Reminiscing that it's been 11 years since I graduated high school and although me and my class of 630+ people had our ups and downs, it was some of the greatest years of my life and I hope the kids in high school now realize that!
Now head over to Stasha's blog and link up for Monday Listicles and tell us of your School Edition list! Then don't forget to come back next week with your list of 10 Songs!
Great list and cool pick for next week's listicles!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Robbie! :)
DeleteBack to school sales are the best, I've got my eye on a new microwave. Great topic for next week.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Paul! Oooh! New microwave! That's a good idea! I thought songs would be a fun topic for next week! :)
DeleteI can't stand that they start advertising Back-to-School in July. We already have Halloween in the stores now. Ellen
ReplyDeleteI know! How crazy right? I know it takes a long time to prepare for a holiday, but geeze! thanks for stopping by, Ellen!
DeleteLOVE next week's topic. I've already got a list of 25 songs!! good thing I have a week to whittle it down! LOL
ReplyDeleteWhen I was shopping for the kids school stuff, I thought it very sneaky of the store to have all the women's clothes on sale too. Very sneaky....but I still gave in on a cute little something for mommy :)
Haha! I'm glad you like the topic for next week! I thought it would be fun! :)
DeleteOh and those stores sure do know what they're doing! They get me every time too!
I went shopping the other day and all the Halloween stuff is out already!! Crazy I tell you.
ReplyDeleteGreat topic next week and I do like the September song :)
I know! Like I said to Ellen (above), I know it takes awhile to prepare for a holiday, but you're jumping like 2-3 holidays at a time to prepare for the next! What happened to "living in the moment"?
DeleteLooking forward to seeing all the songs lists--good idea! I'm in the same boat as you--my son's not old enough for school for three more years, so a lot of this back to school stuff just goes over my head. The sales have been handy, though. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! Cheers to sales! Have fun with next week's topic :) Thanks for stopping by, Lisa!
DeleteGreat list! Luckily all that advertising isn't that bad in Germany, they really keep it to a mininum (and universities start in October, so no toasters for me ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove the topic for next week - now I just got to come up with some songs here!
Thank you, Anja! Maybe you can look for the toaster deals next month ;) hehe!
DeleteI can't wait to see what songs you choose next week! Have fun!
A very nice set of listicles. You are right about the sales too.
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly, Wayne! :)
DeleteYou have a lot of years of kids and school left! It's all fun ;) But the early sales do drive me crazy somtimes (although not as bad as Dec holidays in October...Love the topic for next week!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Yes I sure do...thinking about it makes me feel old! Tis the season for commercialism... *sigh*
DeleteCan't wait to read your post for next week!
I'm excited about next week's topic!
ReplyDeleteThe early back to school sales don't bother me quite as much as the Halloween stuff out as soon as back to school sales end. Or Christmas stuff out before Thanksgiving!
I'm glad you're excited about next week's topic! :)
DeleteIt's really a shame that Christmas shopping is pushed so early just for companies to get ahead in the game of profit. I know it was never this bad before, and I assume it will only get worse *sigh*
Even tho you still have a wee one, it's cool that you're observant enough to still see the hubbub of back-to-school. Next week's topic should be fun....my wheels are already turning.
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you, Jennifer :) I try to learn as much as I can from other mommies for my benefit later ;) Can't wait to see your post next week!
DeleteHow do you even know about Earth, Wind & Fire?? :) I still love that song!
ReplyDeleteGreat topic for next week! What to pick, what to pick?!?!?
Why actually, Diane, I'm a it of an old eclectic soul. I was raised on EW&F, Stevie Wonder, Dan Fogelberg, Billy Joel, James Taylor...all some of my all time favorites :)
DeleteCan't wait to see your list next week! :)
We live a block away from the high school, and the only parking is on the street. Needless to say, it turns into chaos seemingly overnight. I know your pain!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! A high school? I couldn't imagine! You definitely have it worse. At least the school that I am close to, the students don't drive themselves yet.
DeleteThanks for the comment, Jackie! :)
I have gotten a few ideas from Pinterest for this year. And it is a great time for sales!
DeleteI like your topic for next week.
Thank you, Kim! Can't wait to see your list for next week!
DeleteGreat list! You are so right to stock up on the tissues for the first day of school. I cried the day I had to sign my oldest up for Kindergarten. It's so hard and amazing at the same time to watch your kids grow up!
ReplyDeleteI love to see the back to school fashions as well. I love to see the looks on the kids' faces as they walk down the halls at school with their new shoes and bags and what not. They are so cute!
You get to view first hand of lots of kids' first day! There was definitely a sense of pride walking into school with new shoes and outfits and a new backpack and binder! :) Ah I miss those days!
DeleteThanks for commenting, Erin! I hope you're doing well and enjoying the school year so far!
Great topic for next week! And back to school sales are pretty awesome, even without having kids in school :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Audrey! Us women, we're just a sucker for a sale ;)
DeleteCan't wait to see what you have in store for next week! Thanks for stopping by!
